St. James Episcopal celebrating 150 years in W. Dundee

"Open Doors Since 1864" is the motto for St. James Episcopal Church in West Dundee as clergy and parishioners prepare to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the church's founding.

A gala celebration dinner is planned for Friday, Oct. 3, at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee. The Most Rev. Katherine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop, will officiate at the Oct. 5 celebration Mass. She will be joined by the Right Rev. Jeffrey Lee, Bishop of Chicago, and the Rev. Donald Frye, rector of St. James.

A festive reception will follow the service.

Other events leading up to the celebration included: a pictorial parish directory; new landscaping by Midwest Groundcovers, St. Charles; remodeling of the parish house kitchen by Payne's Construction, Cary; and painting the parish house and Sunday school classrooms.
