WIM Fox Valley presents how to stay relevant in today's market

Women in Management Fox Valley presents Ola Muhammed, owner of Olá lá! IJORERE in downtown Elgin, who will discuss "Staying Relevant and Present in Today's Market" at the meeting Thursday, Oct. 9.

The luncheon will be at the Elgin Country Club, 2575 Weld Road, Elgin. It will begin with networking at 11:30 a.m., followed by the luncheon and program at noon. Meetings adjourn promptly at 1:30 p.m.

Cost is $22 for members or $25 for nonmembers. Area women business owners and managers are welcome to attend this month's presentation. Reservations must be made for attendance online at www.wimfoxvalley.org.

Muhammed, a former architect, turned to her creative side to provide imaginative designs for her business, IJORERE The Invitation Inc. in June 2008. Her architectural expertise is evident in the unconventional approaches to her designs. Done with such precision, it is this background that sets IJORERE creations into works of art.

Over the years, Muhammed has garnered accolades in the media, including NBC, WCIU, Entrepreneur Magazine, INSIDE Weddings, BellaNaija, Munaluchi Bridal, Wedding Nouveau and more. She also has worked with celebrities of the industry such as Louis Carr of BET (Black Entertainment Television) and David Tutera of My Fair Weddings.

She took her business to another level in May 2013 when she left her 20-year career in the design and construction industry and opened her flagship storefront, Ola' la' IJORERE, located in downtown Elgin's Artspace.

"My life story is one that is ever shaped by culture, by geography and by a God-given eye for unique design," Mohammed said. "My burgeoning enterprise is the result of a directed path, a drive to see my creative vision brought to life and the realization that limits are often an illusion."

"We are all in continual transition," said Loni Mecum, this year's president of WIM Fox Valley. "We look forward to hearing Olá!'s inspirational story of achieving her creative dreams and how all of us can learn from her experiences."

Mecum has been a member of WIM Fox Valley since 1997. A retired professional, she is the former Elgin City Clerk, City of Elgin.

Linda Deering, CEO of Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, will present "Leadership Skills and the Healthcare Industry" at the Dec. 11 meeting.
