Music notes: Fleetwood Mac plays 2 shows at the United Center

Boomer heavyweights

Iconic baby boomer band Fleetwood Mac returns to Chicago next week for two nights. The current "On With The Show Tour" is notable because it includes singer Christine McVie, who has returned to the band after an absence of more than a decade. If you're not familiar with Fleetwood Mac or its hit songs ("The Chain," "Don't Stop," "Gypsy," etc.), than you simply haven't listened to FM radio in, oh, about 35 years. 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 2-3, at the United Center, 1901 W. Madison, Chicago. Tickets start at $49.50. Go to ticketmaster.com.

More Mystery

Chicago garage-rock band White Mystery is about as stripped-down as you can get - two performers (Alex White and her brother, Francis Scott Key White), two instruments (guitar and drums), tons of noise. The band is touring behind its fourth self-released album, "Dubble Dragon," another collection of ferocious rock anchored by Francis' pounding drums and Alex's wonderful howl of a voice. The group performs in the suburbs this weekend, opening for famed British punk band, the Vibrators. Fans of loud rock, look no further. 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Brauerhouse, 1000 N. Rohlwing Road, No. 13, Lombard. (Also on the bill is the band Absolutely Not.) $7. Go to brauerhouse.com.

Record-release show

Florida heavy-metal band Nonpoint is about to release its new record, "The Return," and it will celebrate that with a show this weekend in Libertyville. (The album comes out on Sept. 30.) 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Austin's Fuel Room, 481 Peterson Road, Libertyville. Tickets start at $15. (Letters From the Fire, Righteous Vendetta and Eyes Set to Kill will also perform.) Go to fuelroom.com.

Brother-sister garage-rock duo White Mystery will perform this weekend in Lombard.
