Dining events: Arrowhead celebrates Oktoberfest

Taste of Munich marches to Arrowhead

Arrowhead Golf Club celebrates Oktoberfest with a variety of German fare. The menu includes Munich-style potato pancakes, homemade spaetzle and sauerkraut side dishes, a selection of "wurst," and "schweinsaxe," a giant pork shank. New this year is a chicken "schnitzel"wich made with Swiss cheese, German slaw and whole grain mustard on a pretzel bun. Available through Oct. 5.

LongHorn will fill you with ribs this fall

Fall invades the LongHorn Steakhouse menu with new items including brew pub pretzel sticks, warm pretzel breadsticks served with Sam Adams beer cheese and bacon honey mustard, for $6.29. Or, try seasonal entrees like the harvest mushroom filet with shiitake, oyster and cremini mushrooms in a red wine sauce, six-ounce for $22.49 or eight-ounce for $25.49; or the apple cider baby back ribs coated with a sweet and savory hard cider barbecue glaze, $16.99 for a half-rack or $20.99 for a full rack.

Mac & Cheese Fest at UIC Forum

Get your tickets in now for Mac & Cheese Fest - a festival of flavors created by 50 chefs noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Varieties of mac and cheese will include the pulled pork mac and cheese, buffalo chicken mac and cheese; white cheddar mac and cheese and chipotle truffle chorizo mac and cheese. A $50 ticket gets you all-you-can taste from participating restaurants and five drink tickets for craft beer, wine and spirits.
