Buffalo Grove looks strong in victory against Hersey

Buffalo Grove 19, Hersey 44: Buffalo Grove continued to flex its muscle in a Mid-Suburban East boys cross country dual meet against defending East champion and host Hersey.

Junior Kevin Salvano (15:37) led the Buffalo Grove attack, taking first ahead of Hersey senior David Rodriguez (15:50) and propelling the Bison to a 19-44 victory at Melas Park.

Buffalo Grove, ranked No. 13 in the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Poll, showed strong pack running in taking second through ninth place.

Salvano, who took third at the First to the Finish in Peoria on Sept. 13, continued to impress on Tuesday by holding off Rodriguez, who finished second at the Richard Spring Invitational in Peoria last Saturday.

Senior Jake Wenzel (15:50), junior Tom Cleary (16:07), senior Montana Nimerfroh (16:10), and junior Evan Schmidt (16:12) completed the scoring for BG by taking 3-4-5-6.

Prospect 23, Rolling Meadows 38: Senior Mike Anderson took first in 16:25 leading Prospect to a 23-38 MSL East dual meet victory over host Rolling Meadows. The Knights started last season with an 0-3 dual meet record, but have come out blazing this season improving their record to 4-0.

Junior Karson LeComte (16:55), junior Alec Heyde (16:56), junior Matt Cozine (17:11), and senior Tommy Matthews (17:12) helped out the Knights by going 4-5-6-7 to complete the scoring.

Senior Colin Piscitello (16:32) and sophomore John Gerardi (16:52) went 2-3 for Rolling Meadows.

Wheeling 16, Elk Grove 43: Wheeling continued its resurgence on Tuesday cruising to a 16-43 MSL East dual meet victory over host Elk Grove.

Junior Joe Swiech (16:56), senior Drew Schwartz (16:56), senior Cole Dammeier (16:57), and sophomore Matt Hoffman (16:57) packed it up going 1-4 leading the Wildcats to the victory.

Sophomore Sean Frinter (16:57) led Elk Grove in fifth place.

Hoffman Estates 27, Palatine 32: Hoffman Estates continues to make improvements and the Hawks took another step forward on Tuesday, defeating host and defending Mid-Suburban League champion and host Palatine 27-32 in an MSL West dual meet at Deer Grove East. Junior Bryan Gamboa (15:51), junior Shiv Patel (15:35), and junior Matt Petersen (15:56) went 3-4-5 to lead the Hawks.

Sophomore Brian Leonard (15:35) and senior Graham Brown (15:37) went 1-2 to lead Palatine.

Conant 15, Schaumburg 47: Host Conant swept the first five spot in cruising to a 15-47 MSL West dual meet victory over Schaumburg at Busse Woods. Conant was running without senior standout Zach Dale, but the Cougars did not miss a beat.

Senior Shujaat Sultan (16:23), junior Chris Serrano (16:34), senior James Janczy (16:39), senior Dominic DeMore (16:39), and sophomore Chris DiGioia (16:42) went 1-5 to lead the Cougars.
