Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Sept. 23

Crystal Lake South 3, Jacobs 0: Three second-half goals proved to be more than enough for the Gators (9-4-1, 1-0) to win one over Fox Valley Conference Valley Division foe Jacobs. Julio Campos got the scoring started on an assist from Orlando Tapia and was quickly followed by Jake Canfield and Ryan Russmann scoring goals, with Charles Ruff and Stefan Harris getting the helpers. Goalie Dalton Kause recorded his fifth shutout of the year with 1 save in net. Not much went right for the Golden Eagles on offense but their goalkeeping did prevent a blow out, with Eduardo Guimaray and Ethan Pickering combing for 10 saves in net.

Hampshire 3, Woodstock North 1: The Whip-Purs (3-10-1, 1-0) started off FVC Fox Division play the right way with a big win over Woodstock North. Michael Boutin had a big game for the Whips scoring twice, thanks to assists from Jose Cruz and Christian McCrusker, and assisting on a Jose Hernandez goal as well. Andy Pederson saw just 2 shots in goal all night and saved one of them.

Cary-Grove 4, Lakes 0: Sprinting out to an early 2-0 lead the Trojans (9-1) were in control the whole time in a nonconference matchup. Esteban Angeles opened the scoring in both halves with a goal, once on a pass from Luis Lemus and another from Michael Arenberg. Arenberg also added a goal, from Jesse Ives, and a second assist on the final goal of the match from Israel Lopez. "Our defense was strong again tonight and our offense was clicking," Trojans coach Mark Olson said. Ethan Csoka earned the shutout after facing just 1 shot on goal.

Bartlett 1, East Aurora 0: It took 76 minutes of play but the Hawks (3-7, 2-1) finally got on the board and held on for the victory on the road in UEC Valley action. TJ Ivkovich scored off a Venici Leone pass to put Bartlett ahead with just 4 minutes left. Jake Hasenstein earned the shutout with stellar play in goal, saving all 13 shots he saw.

Neuqua Valley 2, South Elgin 0: A 2-goal first half deficit was too much for the Storm (3-3-2, 1-2) to overcome in this Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division matchup. Colton Wenig made 2 saves in goal for the Storm.

Harvest Christian 3, IMSA 0: Raphael DeSouza scored in the first 10 minutes of the game and the Lions never looked back as they cruised to an easy Northeastern Athletic Conference victory.
