Sheriff: Wisconsin boy shoots father while hunting

MARATHON CITY, Wis. - Marathon County authorities say an 11-year-old boy has accidentally shot his father while hunting.

Sheriff's Lt. Randy Albert tells Stevens Point Journal Media that the boy mistook his father for a turkey on Sunday and shot him in the upper left area of his chest. Albert says the man was flown to a hospital and was believed to be stable Sunday night.

Albert says the father and son were with two other relatives. Authorities haven't identified the people involved.

The state Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
