No business is going to lower prices
I hope Mr. Halpin (Your Views, Sept. 15) was being sarcastic when he presented the hypothesis that with the Affordable Care Act bringing in more revenue to hospitals, they'll be able to lower prices for others. It is a great idea but totally divorced from reality. Few businesses have the integrity to lower prices when they paid less for something; they just absorb the enhanced profit. The business of business is to make money not to "do the right thing"; just ask the NFL where morality lies in the business plan when it bumps into the bottom line.
