Girls volleyball / Lake County roundup

With sweeps in all five of its matches, Wauconda won its own tournament on Saturday.

The Bulldogs topped second-place Grayslake Central (25-19, 25-19) and third-place Marengo (25-17, 25-8).

They also defeated Round Lake (25-10, 25-13), North Chicago (25-4, 25-5) and Lake Forest Academy (25-8, 25-17).

LeAnne Sakowicz led the Bulldogs with 35 kills, 38 assists, 17 digs and 19 aces over the tournament.

Sara Sexton added 24 kills and Kayla Wedl finished with 13.

Catie Patralia rolled up 40 assists for Wauconda and also added 11 aces and 9 digs.

Ashley Anderson led Wauconda in digs with 32.

The Bulldogs are now 17-4 on the season.

For Grayslake Central, Juliana Frusolone rolled up 71 assists while Taylor O'Neill and Allie Daul finished with 24 and 21 kills respectively.

Dani Sentz led the Rams with 14 aces.

Grayslake Central is now 13-12 on the season.

Hersey Invite: At the Hersey Invite, Mundelein placed fourth in the six-team field.

The Mustangs went 1-4, defeating Hoffman Estates, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13.

St. Viator Invite: At the St. Viator Invite, Carmel advanced to the gold bracket and lost to eventual champion Timothy Christian, 25-22, 25-19.
