School supply drive again a big success

On behalf of the Hanover Township officials and all the staff and volunteers of our Welfare Services department, I would like to thank the residents, community organizations and local businesses for the outpouring of support in donations for the Hanover Township Annual Backpack Giveaway last month.

Due to the generosity of AT&T, Communities That Care, Streamwood Kiwanis Club and Streamwood Women's Club, we were able to give away 1,215 backpacks to township youth at Laurel Hill Elementary School in Hanover Park.

We are especially appreciative of State Rep. Fred Crespo and Cook County Commissioner Timothy O. Schneider for co-hosting this event with us.

I would also like to thank the many businesses, community partners and local municipal offices for allowing their lobbies and offices to be used as school supply drop-off locations. Every summer we continue to be overwhelmed by the tremendous support our residents, neighbors and friends show to those in need and we never take it for granted. Thank you again to everyone who donated school supplies for the 2014 backpack giveaway.
