Victim of Old Town shooting identified

Chicago police on Friday identified the 16-year-old boy who was killed in a shooting on the Near North Side.

Someone riding a bike in the Old Town neighborhood opened fire, shooting Devonshay Lofton in the back several times Thursday night, authorities said. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An officer who responded to the shooting accidentally shot himself in the foot. Police said his gun discharged when he was getting out of his vehicle. The officer was listed in good condition at a nearby hospital.
