Fremd bounces back at Barrington

Fremd's girls volleyball team didn't have to wait long to get back to its winning ways in the Mid-Suburban West.

One night after dropping a two-set decision to first-place Schaumburg, the Vikings topped host Barrington 25-19, 25-20 on Wednesday night.

Fremd raised its record to 10-3 and 4-1 in the West while Barrington now stands at 3-14 and 1-4.

The Fillies were led on attack by Katie Clement (4 kills), Megan Talbot (3 kills, 3 aces), Teigen Eilertsen (2 kills) and Jessica Hauser (1 kill).

Clement and Olivia Hagan each had 5 digs while Annie Rolecek collected 8 assists.

Leyden d. Elk Grove: Junior outside hitter Emily Steininger (8 kills) and senior middle hitter Camille Lazzarotto (5 kills, 3 aces, 5 blocks) helped spark visiting Leyden to a 25-19, 25-14 triumph.

Amber Lindfors and Alex Masnica each had 3 kills for Elk Grove (2-10) while Masnica also collected 6 assists and Mary Cronin (5).

Carly Crothers and Tayler Merkel each had 9 digs for the Grens.
