Meadowdale, Motorsports and Memories Car Show returns to Carpentersville

The Meadowdale International Raceway Preservation Association will host the sixth annual Meadowdale, Motorsports and Memories Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Raceway Woods Nature Preserve in Carpentersville. It will be held rain or shine. Hundreds of automobiles will gather on the straightaway of the historic Meadowdale International Raceway "ghost track." This year's event will honor the Meister Brauser Racing Team with all of the drivers planning to be in attendance including Harry Heuer, team owner and driver, along with Augie Pabst, Bill Wuesthoff and Don Devine. The event will also recognize the 50th anniversary of the Mustang, as well as the history and beauty of the Corvette.

The car show, which is free to the community, will also feature food, beverage and memorabilia vendors, a DJ, raffles and autograph opportunities.

After the event, an "After the Show" dinner will be held, which this year will include interviews with the Meister Brauser Racing Team. Information and registration forms for the dinner as well as car show registration forms can be found at MIRPA.org.

Meadowdale International Raceway is located within Raceway Woods Nature Preserve near the corners of Route 31 and Huntley Road in Carpentersville. Meadowdale International Raceway was a 3.27 mile road course racetrack that operated from September 1958 through 1968. The track sat quiet until early 2000 when the property was purchased by the Kane County Forest Preserve, Dundee Township and the Dundee Township Park District.

Meadowdale International Raceway Preservation Association was launched in 2008 following celebrations of the track's 50th anniversary. Its vision is to continue to promote and educate the local, state and national community on the importance of Meadowdale International Raceways. Our mission is fostering the knowledge and appreciation of the American Motorsports Culture through the development of a National Motorsports Museum and Resource Center. Visit mirpa.org.
