Culver's VIP Scholarship Recipient Has Sights Set on Culinary Arts Career

Culver's of Mundelein franchise partner Chris Searles wouldn't be a bit surprised if his standout team member, Megan Aument, one day becomes a world-famous chef. Working at Culver's since 2012, Aument is a 2014 graduate of Mundelein High School and aspires to attend renowned culinary institutions the likes of Kendall College or Le Cordon Bleu.

Along with two brothers and a sister, Megan was raised by her single mom and feels right at home in the kitchen. She says that it was her grandfather that put her on the road to cooking and rattles off a lengthy list of dishes she likes to make.

Thanks to the Culver's VIP Scholarship Foundation, which recently provided her with $1,000 to assist with classes at College of Lake County, Aument's dream is finally beginning to take shape.

"Her maturity and determination allowed her to quickly advance to her current position as True Blue Crew Trainer," said Searles. "Megan has always been a fantastic employee. She never needs to be told what to do and is revered by her co-workers. And she is only 18!"

A recent face-to-face meeting with company Co-Founder Craig Culver at Culver's headquarters in Sauk City, Wisconsin only solidified Megan's intentions of pursuing a hospitality and the culinary arts degree.

"Mr. Culver explained that the customer comes first," says Aument, who says that growing up, it was her mom who always encouraged her to cook at home. "If the customer is not happy, then they aren't coming back. It makes me happy to see our customers happy. It means they've had a good experience visiting Culver's and will be back."

The Culver's VIP Scholarship Fund provided more than $317,000 in assistance to more than 300 recipients in 2014, while awarding over $2.4 million in scholarships to more than 2,375 team members since 1993.

"I'm so grateful to be a Culver's VIP recipient," adds Aument. "Not only does the money help with my tuition, but it allows me really focus on my homework and grades and to be less stressed out."
