Medicare a program worth preserving

On July 30 Medicare turned 49 years old. As we approach Medicare's 50th anniversary, there are many who want to cut it or gut it altogether (Paul Ryan wants to turn it into a voucher program). But the reality is that Medicare is a federal program that works. Throughout this current recession there has been one group that has weathered the economic downturn fairly well - seniors. And the reasons are Medicare and Social Security.

Let us all keep this in mind as we enter the election season. Support candidates who want to strengthen Medicare and Social Security, not gut it.
