Kildeer's former Quentin School sold to Chicago company
Lake Zurich Unit District 95 officials have agreed to sell the former Quentin Elementary School building for $1.8 million.
A Chicago real estate and investment business called Bond Companies offered to buy the site, at 21250 W. Shirley Road in Kildeer. The school board approved the sale during a special meeting Thursday night.
The company wants to convert the land into a shopping center, District 95 board member Doug Goldberg said. Bond Companies was behind a local Whole Foods supermarket, too, Goldberg said.
"He's got a good track record," Goldberg said. "We hope the sale goes through without issue."
A Bond Companies representative couldn't be reached for comment.
Quentin School closed in 2009 due to declining enrollment and has been for sale since 2010.
The school building sits on about 10 acres. The land was valued at $1 million a few years ago.
