Des Plaines police identify body found in pond

Des Plaines police have confirmed the identity of the woman whose body was found in a pond Thursday afternoon outside the Prairie Lakes Community Center.

Police identified the woman as 51-year-old Barbara Roache. The Cook County medical examiner's office said an autopsy is still pending.

Police have said they don't consider her death suspicious.

Police Chief Bill Kushner said the woman was discovered in the pond at 2:52 p.m. She was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 4:10 p.m.

Kushner said family members had reported her missing about 1 p.m. Thursday after she failed to show up for work at her job in Des Plaines.

She was located after police traced her cellphone to a location near Prairie Lakes, 515 E. Thacker St.
