Your news Watch artists at work during Art in Nature

Come watch more than 40 artists painting along scenic nature trails at Crabtree Nature Center's fifth annual Art in Nature event from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. Crabtree Nature Center is on Palatine Road, one mile west of Barrington Road in Barrington.

Visitors watch the Plein air artist painting outdoors and can also buy paintings. Free adult watercolor painting instruction will be given throughout the day. This free event also has special children's crafts, food and live music.

"All the artists are very excited to be part of this and paint in such a beautiful spot," says Carol Foster, an organizer of the event.

Artists will pick a scenic spot on the edge of a lily pad covered pond, flower-filled prairie or colorful, wooded trail and start painting. Visitors can wander the trails and watch the artists at work until 2 p.m.

At that time, all of the artists will bring their artwork back to the nature center to be judged, with visitors able to vote for their favorite. Other paintings will be for sale throughout the day.
