Hersey keeps share of MSL East lead

Hersey's girls volleyball team remained in a first-place tie with Wheeling in the Mid-Suburban East after defeating Elk Grove 25-13, 25-16 on Thursday night at the Ken Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Liz Fuerst (8 kills), Kelly Hill (5), Gabriella Olhava (4), Caity Strozewski (3) and Zoe Strozewski (2) were top attackers for the host Huskies, who improved to 7-4 and 3-0.

Senior setter Courtney Stedman handed out 18 assists while Paige Pannozzo collected 11 digs.

Caity Strozewski also served 3 aces and Fuerst 2.

Amber Lindfors had 4 blocks and 2 kills for Elk Grove (2-8, 0-3) while the Grens' defense was led by Carly Crothers (4 digs) and Alex Masnica (3).

Prospect def. Rolling Meadows: Prospect (3-3, 1-2) use a balanced attack set by Michelle Haaning (16 assists) to earn a 25-17, 25-20 victory in the MSL East.

Catherine Sherwood (3 kills), Kaell Myers (3), Maggie Porwit (3), Madeline Mantych (2) and Carolyn Sherrick (2) led the attack for the Knights, who also received 7 digs from Sarah Cutaia and Myers.

Rolling Meadows (2-9, 0-3) was paced by Hannah Mickey (5 kills), Nora Rasche (4) and Megan Mich (3) while Mickey also recorded 3 blocks,

Megan King had 10 assists and Mich 5.
