Glen Ellyn annexes parts of Glen Oak Country Club property

Glen Ellyn has annexed portions of the Glen Oak Country Club's property, giving the club access to the village's Lake Michigan water system and the village access to more tax revenue.

An operating agreement approved in July calls for the club to pay the village roughly $45,000 a year in taxes.

As part of that agreement, the club also will pay 115 percent of the resident water rates and build a public water main along Hill Avenue from Cumnor Avenue to the "east right-of-way line" of Golf Avenue.

The main will assist the village in connecting its water system.

The annexed property consists of a 300-foot strip south of Hill Avenue, two lots on Golf Avenue and another parcel on the south side of Hill Avenue between Whittier Avenue and Country Club Lane, according to village documents.

The club will use the new water system for its facilities, but plans to use existing wells for watering its landscaping and grass.
