COD to Host 'Women and Religion in the Modern World' Discussion on Oct. 2

The Women's Studies Committee at College of DuPage will present "Women and Religion in the Modern World: A Discussion of Women in Contemporary Judaism and Hinduism" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, in the Health and Science Center, Room 1234, on the College's main campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., in Glen Ellyn.

This event is free and open to the public.

"It is impossible to understand a religion without understanding the role of women in all aspects of a particular faith," said COD Philosophy and Religious Studies Assistant Professor Les Wolf. "It is our hope that attendees will leave this program with a greater understanding of the complex and evolving role of women in major world religions today."

Moderated by Wolf, the presentation will include speakers Rachel Havrelock, professor of Jewish Studies and English at the University of Illinois at Chicago and author of "River Jordan: The Mythology of a Dividing Line," and Tracy Pintchman, professor of Religious Studies at Loyola University Chicago and author of "The Rise of the Goddess in the Hindu Tradition."
