Grill masters, compete in charity Rib & Chicken Cook-Off

The 4th annual Family Picnic-Rib & Chicken Cook-Off will be again be hosted by Palatine-based nonprofit, C.A.T.I.F. (Celebrating All That Is Feminine) in front of Lamplighters Inn on Station Street in downtown Palatine.

The event will take place from noon-5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, and individuals with "skills on the grill" still have an opportunity to register to compete in the Rib & Chicken Cook-Off.

The event will not only bring on some healthy competition for a $250 cash prize, it also will provide a variety of activities and events for the entire family.

The band Unconstitutional will be performing live, with an appearance by Bag O Jammers, along with a dunk tank, bouncy house and kids games and entertainment.

The event is free and open to the public, and tickets for food and games can be purchased for $1 each or 25 for $20.

The charity beneficiary will be the Palatine Opportunity Center, a nonprofit that assists in-need Palatine residents by connecting them with resources to create a pathway for integration and success.

Celebrating All That Is Feminine is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit public charity that officially formed in 2010. Since its inception, the organization has sponsored two fundraisers per year in February and September and has now raised nearly $100,000 for a variety of local social service organizations. C.A.T.I.F. is made up of a group of professional women who pool their energy and resources to touch, encourage and empower women in-need and at-risk children.
