Experts to address Route 53 extension

A panel of experts will discuss the proposed Route 53 extension from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Buffalo Grove Park District Alcott Center, 530 Bernard Drive, Buffalo Grove. The town hall meeting is hosted by state Rep. Elaine Nekritz of Northbrook. Scheduled speakers are: Jeff Braiman, Buffalo Grove village president; Doug Whitley, former president of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce; and, Rocco Zucchero of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. A blue-ribbon panel in 2012 recommended approval of the proposal subject to various conditions and environmental protections. Recommendations on how to fund and maintain the road and protect natural resources are being formulated in advance of a decision by the tollway board.
