9/11 author to speak in Barrington Thursday

Author Michael Hingson will share the amazing tale of how his guide dog, Roselle, helped save his life during the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks when he speaks Thursday at The Garlands Performing Arts Center in Barrington.

Hingson, who's been blind since birth, was led to safety by Roselle from the 78th floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower. He recalls the day's events in his book, "Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero."

The free event takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at The Garlands, 1000 Garlands Lane, in Barrington. RSVP to Amy at (847) 304-1996.
