A Mount Prospect woman faces a variety of charges, state police say, after she struck an Illinois state trooper conducting a traffic stop on I-294 and then hit a car carrying seven people. The trooper is in stable condition with injuries to his legs and ribs after surgery this morning.

Leslie W. Thurow 59, faces charges of aggravated leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, aggravated DUI, and aggravated DUI involving personal injury.

She remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing later today.

Police said that at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, the District 15 trooper was conducting the stop in the vicinity of northbound I-294 and St. Charles Road near Elmhurst, when he was struck and thrown Thurow's Honda.

Master Sgt. Carlita Joe said Thurow took off northbound before hitting another car, an Acura, causing it to roll over.

Joe said Thurow was arrested immediately after that.

Joe said the driver and passengers in the Acura, seven total, were taken to hospitals.

Thurow is due in bond court this afternoon.
