Forest Preserves of Cook County hosts photo contest

The Forest Preserves of Cook County is hosting its third annual photo contest to showcase the best photos of the places, people, flora and fauna of the forest preserves as captured by amateur and professional photographers.

Twelve winning photographs will be featured in the forest preserves' 2015 wall calendar and in an exhibition in the Cook County Building in downtown Chicago. Photos also will be exhibited in Cook County's suburban courthouses.

Photos must be taken in a Cook County Forest Preserve and should feature nature scenery and landscapes, close-ups of plants, insects, birds and other wildlife, or people enjoying the outdoors or participating in our recreational offerings. Photos must be submitted to the Forest Preserves through Monday, Sept. 15.

Entrants have the option of submitting photos on the preserves' social media sites or via email.

Facebook users can post submissions on the Preserves' page at facebook.com/FPDCC, and use the contest hashtag #FPphotos14.

Instagram and Twitter users can post their photos using the contest hashtag #FPphotos14 with an @FPDCC mention.

Submissions also will be accepted by email at forest preservedistrict@gmail.com.

Public voting on the finalists will take place Oct. 1-10, on the Forest Preserves' Facebook page.
