Former Palatine man convicted for forcing teens into prostitution

A former Palatine man was convicted by a federal jury of juvenile sex-trafficking after a two-week trial that ended Thursday.

Fabriel “Face” Delaney, 28, was convicted of sex-trafficking by force, fraud and coercion of minors after two days of deliberation by the jury, according to court records.

Prosecutors said Delaney forced two girls, ages 16 and 17, and a 20-year-old woman to perform sex acts in southwest suburban motels between 2010 and 2011. All three testified against Delaney at trial.

The adult woman said Delaney initially split some of the money she and the girls were paid for performing sex acts, but later Delaney took all the money and threatened them with violence and physically assaulted them when they complained or didn't do what he wanted. She told jurors Delaney once held a hot iron next to her face to threaten her.

Delaney was caught after he took the girls and the woman from Michigan to a hotel in Tinley Park to perform sex acts at a bachelor party. However, that turned out to be a sting by undercover federal agents who had been tracking Delaney's activities.

Delaney faces a minimum 15-year sentence at his next hearing in December. He has been in custody since July 2011.
