Warrenville Art on the Prairie and Afternoon Jazz Festival Offers Family Fun Sept. 13 & 14

If you are looking for a fun, inexpensive family outing, bring your clan to Art on the Prairie and Afternoon Jazz Festival Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14. Admission is free; hours are 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. both days. The festival is located in the Warrenville City Hall parking lot on Stafford Place. The event offers art, free music, free kids' activities, micro brew and wine tasting, and food.

Art on the Prairie is a juried fine art show featuring jewelry, ceramics, paintings, fused glass, photography, and many more types of art mediums exhibited and sold by participating artists.

The Afternoon Jazz Fest includes a great schedule of a variety of music and performing arts:

Saturday, Sept. 13:

• Noon: Dona Benkert & Friends

• 1:00-3:00 p.m.: FREE face painting

• 2:00 p.m.: Dance with Janet - Country dance lessons

• 3:00 p.m.: Reel Steel Drums (Caribbean music)

• 4:00 p.m.: Tin Fiddle Band (Country/Folk music)

Sunday, Sept. 14:

• 11:00 a.m.: Hughes School of Irish Dance

• 12:00 p.m.: Chris Walz (Folk music)

• 1:00 p.m.: Ashley Lewis

• 1:00-2:00 p.m.: FREE Ben's Bubble Show

• 1:00-3:00 FREE face painting

• 2:00 p.m.: Cadillac Ranch Dance Team

• 3:00 p.m.: Small Potatoes with Jacquie Manning and Rich Prezioso

• 4:00 p.m.: The Sarancens Band

"Throughout the event you'll be able to see artist demos, like the pottery wheel and the loom, have fun at the children's art station, and participate in the community glass project," said Ruth Brackmann, Warrenville Park District recreation supervisor.

The Warrenville Public Library District stays open throughout Art on the Prairie. Film art enthusiast Bill Brandeis will be in the library lobby to share his movie poster collection. Participants in Bill's Poster Trivia Contest have the opportunity to win a gift card to Regal Cinemas.

Art on the Prairie and Afternoon Jazz Festival is sponsored by the Warrenville Park District, City of Warrenville, and Warrenville Public Library and is sponsored in part by the City of Warrenville Hotel/Motel Grant and the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
