Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, Sept. 4

South Elgin 4, Rockford East 0: The Storm earned its first win of the season with a 2-goal performance by J.C. Lujan. Jose Gomez and Al-Ameer Rosenje each scored a goal and a pair of JV call-ups, Jimmy Kelleher and Ricky Valdivia, each had an assist for South Elgin (1-0-2). Colton Wenig made 1 save in net while Juan Garcia corralled 2 in the second half.

Burlington Central 3, Rockford Christian 1: The Rockets (3-0-2, 1-0) remained unbeaten in 5 games and their first Big Northern East tilt went smoothly as Stefan Jochum scored twice and Jack Schramme registered a goal and an assist. Keeper Ryan Fitzgerald stopped 3 shots.

Dundee-Crown 5, Sycamore 0: Willie Campos and Freddy Martinez were quite the duo in the Chargers' nonconference win. Campos accounted for 2 goals and an assist while Martinez put across a goal and an assist, as the tandem assisted on each other's goals to pu D-C at 4-2 overall. Jose Gonazlez made 2 saves in net while Ivan Sanchez and Jeremy Jareckyj also netted shots. Brian Guerrero had an assist.

Westminster Christian 6, Cornerstone 0: Forward Noah Gannon had 2 goals in the Warriors' (5-3) nonconference win. Scoring a goal each were Dan DiGrazia, Joey Tyrrell, Chad Thomason and Lee Grasemann. Goalie Ben Versluys made 2 saves in net.

Ridgewood 5, Elgin 1: Oleitan Ajayi provided the Maroons' with their only goal in a 5-1 loss at the LaSallian Cup Tournament against Ridgewood. Goalkeeper Eleno Montes made 1 save in the second half in goal while Edgar Gonzalez made 2 saves in the first half. Elgin (2-2) will go for third place against Resurrection Saturday at 1 p.m.
