Township officials host residents, visiting agencies

Elgin Township officials will host an open house 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the township office, 729 S. McLean Blvd.

Visitors can learn about the township and how it serves and benefits residents. Township board members will be available for questions.

The Elgin Township Road District will have "Touch a Truck" activities for the children and offer information for rural residents about its services. There will also be a safety town setup for children.

Donations will be accepted for diapers for the Community Crisis Center, nonperishable food items for Northern Illinois Food Bank, and toys for Toys For Tots, all organizations the township supports in providing services for its residents.

Several agencies will be on hand to provide information and resources: Elgin Boys and Girls Club, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, Centro de Informacion, Community Crisis Center, Ecker Center for Mental Health, Elgin Township TRIAD, Food for Greater Elgin, The Literacy Connection, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association, Senior Services Associates Inc., YWCA, United Way of Elgin and the Marine Corps Toys For Tots.
