Piazzi paces another Libertyville victory

Maggie Piazzi led a balanced attack, and Libertyville's girls golf team stayed undefeated Wednesday.

Piazzi, a returning junior playing in the No. 4 spot, earned medalist honors with a 41 at Bittersweet Golf Club in leading the Wildcats to a 167 and convincing win over host Warren (198).

Simone Mikaelian, Megan Sturonas and Jessica Lovinger each shot a 42 for Libertyville, which improved to 6-0 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Conference.

"Our team responded well to a tough course," Wildcats coach Greg Pedersen said. "We're proud of Maggie and the work she's put in."

Warren was led by Erica Price's 46 and Jeanie Kasper's 48.

Stevenson d. Antioch: At Spring Valley, the visiting Patriots (169) won the North Suburban Conference meet, receiving 42s from Myra Peterson, Alexia Fidman and Surya Vijayasankar. Stephanie Namkoong added a 43 for Stevenson.

Antioch (254) was led by Hannah Cook's 54.

Mundelein d. Lakes: At Countryside, Megan Wiese shot a winning 43 for the host Mustangs (191) against the Eagles (262).

Mundelein also counted Jennifer Dimitriou's 47, Holly Petlak's 48 and Shannon Streeter's 53.

Carmel d. Deerfield: At Heather Ridge Golf Course in Gurnee, the Corsairs kept their perfect record intact, carding a season-best 164 to defeat the Warriors (179).

Kayla Ryan led Carmel with a 3-over-par 39. Natalie Linquist (40), Alexa Amato (42) and Danielle Savovich (43) rounded out the scoring for the Corsairs, who improved to 4-0.

Deerfield's Lauren Kelsey shot a 40.

Vernon Hills d. Lake Zurich: At Village Green, Kari Lee's 43 and Faith Jung's 44 led the Cougars (196) in the North Suburban Conference dual.

Aine Mattera (44) and Paige Wallace (49) led Lake Zurich (207).
