Hanover Township seeking volunteers for creek cleanup

Volunteers are needed to clear debris from a stretch of Willow Creek through east Elgin and a nearby park Sept. 13.

Hanover Township, the Elgin chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America and Neighborhood Housing Services of the Fox Valley are hosting the cleanup.

"This is a great opportunity for everyone to come together and really make a difference," league President John Ziegler said. "Residents can have a hand in helping beautify areas in their own backyard."

Registration begins 8 a.m. at 225 S. Liberty St., in Elgin, behind Ellis Middle School. Volunteers interested in cleaning the creek will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center at 899 Jay St., in Elgin.

Lunch will be provided behind Ellis Middle School. Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately.
