'When I'm 64' workshop offered at Barrington library

Turning 65 is a milestone - in more ways than one.

The Barrington Area Council on Aging and the Barrington Area Library are sponsoring "When I'm 64," a three-part workshop that will help guide 60 somethings as they look toward retirement. The workshops will be from 7-8:30 p.m. on Mondays from Sept. 8 through Sept. 22, at the Barrington Area Library, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington.

Workshop 1 on Sept. 8, will cover the basics of Social Security and Medicare. Susan Grossinger, senior services coordinator from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, and Royce Blackwell, retired Social Security Administration manager, will provide attendees with what they need to know to understand and navigate Medicare and Social Security.

Workshop 2, Sept. 15, Gabrielle Johnson will discuss transitions, with a focus on new lifestyle choices and plans for retirement. Johnson is an LCPC as well as a certified life coach and owns Advanced Direction, a private counseling practice in Crystal Lake.

Workshop 3, Sept. 22, Michelle Sanfilippo will discuss keeping your brain healthy as you age. Sanfilippo is a physician's assistant with the Neurosciences Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital and works with Dr. Concetta Forchetti in the Memory Disorders Center.
