Schaumburg selectes Miss Septemberfest, court
Carly Bryeans, 17, of Conant High School in Hoffman Estates was crowned Schaumburg's Miss Septemberfest 2014 at an annual luncheon of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Rotary Club Friday afternoon.
Bryeans was selected from among the five finalists to represent the village during its 44th annual Septemberfest celebration throughout the three-day Labor Day weekend.
The five finalists were originally narrowed down from 15 applicants based on four criteria - poise, character, community involvement and knowledge of Schaumburg.
Bryeans' activities in the community include varsity golf captain, youth ministry at St. Hubert's Church in Hoffman Estates and organizer for the ChariTEE golf event.
She receives a $500 scholarship from the Rotary Club and a $1,000 scholarship from the Sons and Daughters of Italy.
The four other finalists become members of Miss Septemberfest's court during the weekend and assist in meeting with the public and introducing main stage musical acts.
The members of the court are Carolyn Byrne, 17, of Schaumburg High School; Victoria Cifrino, 17, of Schaumburg High School; Alyssa McDonald, 16, of Conant High School; and Isha Jog, 19, of Loyola University.
All entrants must be Schaumburg residents, 16 to 19 years old and never married.
