• Burglars stole several silk scarves from India between Aug. 5 and 10 out of an open garage on the 400 block of South Banbury. Value was estimated at $1,500.

• Burglars broke into a 2012 Ford Econoline van between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 23 at a home on the 600 block of East Algonquin Road and stole a laptop computer and power drill in a red case. Value was estimated at $2,500.

• Burglars stole a girls' blue bicycle, girls' white bicycle and a boys' gray bicycle between 7 p.m. Aug. 17 and 9 p.m. Aug. 21 out of a common storage area in an apartment building on the 1400 block of East Central Road. The bikes were chained together; the chain and lock also were stolen. Value was estimated at $1,000.

• Thieves stole a catalytic converter valued at $1,000 between 3 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 25 from a 2001 Jeep Cherokee in the Arlington Park Metra lot, 2121 W. Northwest Hwy.

• Vandals used white paint between 6 p.m. Aug. 22 and 7 a.m. Aug. 25 to spray graffiti on tennis courts at Creekside Park, 4100 Schaefer Road. During the same time, vandals used silver paint to spray graffiti on a 2014 Chevrolet Blazer on the 4100 block of Bloomington Avenue and on a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro on the 4200 block of Bloomington Avenue.

• A teenage boy stole a women's gray bicycle around 1:38 p.m. Aug. 20 from a driveway on the 800 block of South Highland. Value was estimated at $80. The offender was described as a white male, late teens, 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, brown hair, blue jeans and a blue shirt pulled over his shoulders.

• A man stole a white plastic donation box between 10:30 and 11:24 a.m. Aug. 20 from Citgo, 304 S. Arlington Heights Road. Value was estimated at $200. He was described as a white male, 18-21 years old, tattoos on his forearms, dark sunglasses, dark blue baseball cap, blue jeans and black gym shoes.

• Thieves stole a women's locked green and white mountain bike valued at $105 between 7 a.m. Aug. 16 and 6 p.m. Aug. 17 from the Arlington Park Metra lot, 2121 W. Northwest Hwy.

• Thieves stole a cellphone valued at $599 between 5 p.m. Aug. 13 and 7 a.m. Aug. 14 and a wallet valued at $300 between 1:15 and 6:05 p.m. Aug. 20 at GS Floor Designs, 855 W. University.

• Burglars broke into a home between 9 a.m. and 10:50 p.m. Aug. 21 on the 1900 block of North Carlyle. It was not immediately clear if anything was missing.

Des Plaines

• Lisa Principato, 44, and Nikko Principato, 21, both of the 700 block of West Holiday Lane, Des Plaines, were arrested around 12:25 a.m. Aug. 10 at their apartment and charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, battery and resisting arrest.

• A vandal shot a bullet between 6 p.m. Aug. 8 and noon Aug. 9 through a second-floor double-pane window on the west side of a business building at 2600 S. River Road. The bullet struck a wall, hit a privacy window and came to rest on a desk. Damage was estimated at $2,450.

• Burglars stole two cases of cigarettes valued at $3,664 around 8:21 p.m. Aug. 13 out of a truck in a lot at 885 E. Touhy Ave. while the victim was making a delivery.

• A man entered a home on the 900 block of East Hollywood Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Aug. 16 through the unlocked front door and stood at a bedroom door. A woman sleeping in the bedroom woke up and screamed and he fled. Nothing appeared to be disturbed or missing.

• Two men stole an air conditioning unit valued at $1,000 around 12:48 p.m. Aug. 18 out of the backyard at a home on the 500 block of South Mount Prospect Road. They placed the unit into the trunk of a black vehicle and drove away.

• Burglars stole a GPS radar detector out of an unlocked Ford Focus and a sunglasses case out of an unlocked Ford Explorer between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 10 and 5:45 a.m. Aug. 11 in the same driveway on the 400 block of West King Lane. Value was estimated at $300.

• Burglars removed a stereo from the dashboard between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 16 and 11:50 a.m. Aug. 17 but left it on the passenger's-side seat in a Buick in a lot on the 1200 block of Washington Street. Damage was estimated at $800.

• Burglars pried wooden panels from a shed between Aug. 14 and 15 on the 400 block of South Fifth Court and stole a welding machine. Loss was estimated at $500.

• Thieves stole 11 white concrete lawn statues between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and 9 a.m. Aug. 15 out of the front yard at a home on the 700 block of South Warrington Road. Value was estimated at $1,000.

• Thieves stole a wallet between 3:58 and 4:05 p.m. Aug. 14 out of a shopping cart in a store lot at 767 W. Golf Road. Value was estimated at $180.

• Burglars broke a window between 5 p.m. Aug. 11 and 6 a.m. Aug. 12 at a business at 2410 S. River Road, rummaged through desk drawers and stole a petty cash box containing $100 out of the main office.

Elk Grove Village

• Burglars climbed through a rear window between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and 2:20 a.m. Aug. 10 at a home on the 100 block of Brandywine Avenue and stole jewelry and money in a jar. Value was estimated at $1,500.

• Thieves stole cosmetics valued at $2,002 around 6:45 p.m. Aug. 13 from Walgreens, 641 Meacham Road.

Palatine

• Burglars stole a laptop computer and gym bag between 10 p.m. Aug. 15 and 8 a.m. Aug. 16 out of an unlocked 2009 Toyota on the 900 block of South Willow Walk.

• Burglars stole prescription sunglasses valued at $600, a tire gauge and two phone chargers between 4 p.m. Aug. 16 and 5 p.m. Aug. 18 out of an unlocked 2006 Chevrolet truck on the 600 block of East Delgado Drive.

• Vandals used a brake rotor between 11 p.m. Aug. 14 and 4 a.m. Aug. 15 to smash windows and scratch the paint on two vans on the 1600 block of North Rand Road.

Streamwood

• Burglars stole a stereo/DVD system out of a center console, credit and debit cards, cash and several phone chargers between 7:50 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Aug. 11 out of a 1998 Ford pickup truck in a restaurant lot at 950 S. Barrington Road. Value was estimated at $350. Someone used a credit card twice at a BP gas station.

• Thieves stole two weed cutters between 4 p.m. Aug. 15 and 9 a.m. Aug. 17 from a landscaping trailer in a driveway on the 700 block of South Oltendorf Road. Value was estimated at $654.
