Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, August 26

Dundee-Crown 2, Deerfield 1: Going ahead early and leading at the half 2-0, the Chargers (2-0-0) held on to pick up the win in the Lake Forest Tournament. Ivan Sanchez and Miguel Rodriguez each scored for D-C while Louis Rodriguez and Brain Guerrero had assists. Jose Gonzales had 7 saves in goal.

Westminster Christian 9, Kirkland-Hiawatha 1: The Warriors cruised to an easy first victory behind a hat trick from Robert Kleczynski. Along with a pair of goals each from Will DeHaan and Michael Beusse, Sam Carani and Noah Gannon also scored, with Gannon adding 3 assists. Goalie Ben Versluys had 3 saves.

Harvest Christian 2, St. Edward 1: With the Green Wave ahead going into the second half, the Lions struck back and eventually took the lead. Raphael DeSouza scored the equalizer delivered by Aaron Ptak, while Austin White netted the game-winner from Cesar Velazquez. Noah Fox had 9 saves in goal for the Lions. For St. Edward, a Joe French goal assisted by AJ Franklin put the Green Wave up early. Finishing with 5 saves in goal was keeper Matt Hesch.

Burlington Central 7, Rockford Lutheran 0: Sporting a 5-0 lead after the first half, the Rockets won easily in the season opener. Five different players scored for the Rockets, with Chris Leberecht and Luke Schramme, who had an assist as well, each notching 2 goals. Ryan Fitzgerald earned the shutout in goal with 2 saves.

Batavia 1, Bartlett 0: Despite good goaltending from keeper Jake Hasenstein, the Hawks could not overcome the Bulldogs in their season opener. Hasenstein had 8 saves in goal for Bartlett.

Huntley 1, Boylan 1: The Red Raiders fought their way back to a tie near the end of the first half and held on to walk away even in their season opener. Michael Zembrzuski assisted on Travis Walsh's tying goal. Michael Parks had 5 saves after giving up a goal early.

Waubonsie Valley 3, Streamwood 2: The Sabres (0-1-0) lost a close one on the road to start off their season. Donnie Sosa (1 goal, 1 assist) and Alan Camenera scored for Streamwood while Edwin Rueda added an assist. Sergio Blanco finished the night with 3 saves in goal.
