Workshops to focus on college readiness

Monthly College Readiness Workshops will be offered at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin for Elgin Area School District U-46 middle and high school students and their parents.

"The Road to College" workshop will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, in the Elgin Room at the library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

The series of workshops offer valuable information to parents and students about preparing for and applying to colleges.

Topics like what students should do after high school, how to compare colleges, and how to choose the right college will be addressed. Presentations will be offered in English and Spanish.

"The Road to College" workshops are sponsored by Gail Borden Public Library District, Renz Addiction Counseling Center, Elgin Community College, Youth Leadership Academy, and U-46.
