Chief Illinois justice talks to incoming law students

CHAMPAIGN - The Illinois Supreme Court's chief judge is among the justices touring the state's nine law schools to talk about and administer a pledge of professionalism.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports that Chief Justice Rita Garman spoke to incoming class of about 160 students at the University of Illinois law students last week.

Her advice to them was as follows: Be prepared for class, guard your reputation and practice civility. She also urged students to treat others kindly.

Garman is among several justices from the Illinois Supreme and Appellate courts touring law schools.
