Hawthorn Woods construction trailer fire under investigation

No injuries resulted from a fire that broke out in vacant construction trailers over the weekend in Hawthorn Woods, authorities said.

Lake Zurich Fire Department officials said crews were summoned to the blaze at 12:25 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Kruckenberg Road. Authorities said the cause remains under investigation.

Officials said firefighters initially were dispatched to what was believed to be outdoor burning.

When crews arrived at the scene, firefighters found abandoned and vacant construction trailers from a home development were ablaze and smoke was coming from the structures, officials said.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from the outside because the trailers were deemed unsafe to enter. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians due to the fire, authorities said.

Lake Zurich received assistance at the blaze from fire departments including Arlington Heights, Barrington-Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Countryside, Cary, Fox River Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Mundelein, Palatine, Palatine Rural and Wauconda.
