BURLINGTON, Iowa -- The Kane County Cougars did not go down without a fight Sunday but still saw their 13-game winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss to the Burlington Bees at Community Field. Burlington's victory was its first win over the Cougars (41-21, 86-46) this season.

Down 2-0 in the ninth, Daniel Lockhart reached on an infield single. Carlos Penalver put the Cougars on the board for the first time with an RBI double to cut Burlington's lead in half. Jeffrey Baez walked to put the go-ahead run on the bases, but Shawn Dunston Jr.'s long flyout ended the game.

The Cougars got 5 strong innings from Daury Torrez (11-6), but the right-hander took the loss after allowing 2 unearned runs in the fifth inning.

The Bees' Harrison Cooney (9-7) picked up the win with 5 shutout innings, stranding six Cougars on the bases. Ben Carlson picked up his 13th save despite allowing the Cougars' only run.

The Cougars and Bees continue their series Monday with a pitching matchup of Paul Blackburn (9-4, 3.27) against Daniel Hurtado (2-2, 2.08). First pitch from Community Field is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
