Learn to keep your profile safe at McHenry breakfast meeting

Stateline Society for Human Resource Management will host a breakfast program titled "Information Security and the Critical Human Resources Link" on Thursday, Sept. 11.

It will be presented by Michelle Toll, a Stateline SHRM board member and senior vice president of The State Bank Group.

In an era of high profile data breaches, rapid technology innovations, "Bring Your Own Device Policies," framed with the uncertainties of the current economic recovery, human resources professionals are perfectly placed to be a leader in ensuring that information security policies and procedures are on everyone's agenda.

Leaving the protection of IT networks to be managed only by a specialized department of experts is just one of the primary mistakes an organization can make. Effective information security depends less on technology and more on people than business leaders might think. Human resources need to work cooperatively with CISO's as a vital strategy for managing information security risk. The modern HR role requires being a leader in managing the security of your organization's information assets. In doing so, you will lead the way in migrating the HR profession from being a "strategic partner" to being a driver of business success and sustainability.

The program is pending approval for 1.25 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. Applicable information will be included in on-site materials.

The meeting will be held at the McHenry County Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry. It will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. and will adjourn at 9:45 a.m.

Cost to members is $15; cost for nonmembers is $30, payable by cash or check at the door. Credit card payments can be made online by Monday, Sept. 8. Visit stateline.shrm.org for information or to make your reservation.
