SRACLC golfers hit links with Grayslake Park District

On Aug. 7, golfers with special needs from The Special Recreation Association of Central Lake County paired up with community golfers from the Grayslake Community Park District to share in some friendly competition. SRACLC, along with the park district, hosted the Annual Birdie Buddies golf tournament at the Grayslake par three golf course.

After the athletes played a very competitive round of golf, they gathered in the club house for salad, pizza, and dessert. While enjoying their meal the golfers were awarded trophies for different accomplishments made on the course that day.

Awards went to Matt Tielke for the longest putt, Kevin Kinder for closest to the pin, Dan Dalziel and Caitlin Bebber for first place, and Jeff Nehila and Hope Michelotti for second place.

When asked how it felt to win, Caitlin Bebber, Special Olympics Golfer, said, "We shot a 2 on the second hole; it was awesome!"

The SRACLC and the Grayslake Community Park District athletes both experienced a fun and competitive day of golf where they were able to compete with new people.
