A McHenry County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after impregnating a 12-year-old girl.

Judge Sharon Prather on Wednesday called the crime "repulsive and disgusting and unforgivable" before sentencing 41-year-old Rafael Rodriguez-Sanchez of McCullom Lake for his conviction on predatory sexual assault charges.

Prosecutors had sought a sentence of 20 years.

The Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake reported Wednesday that the girl's mother said in a prepared statement that she found out about the sexual relationship when she took the girl to the doctor and found out she was pregnant.

She says she and her husband had trusted Rodriguez-Sanchez and let him live with their family.

The judge says Rodriguez-Sanchez may face deportation.
