Buffalo Grove Stampede set for Aug. 31

The Buffalo Grove Park District's Friends of the Parks Foundation will be hosting its annual 5K and 10K race, the Buffalo Grove Stampede, on Sunday, Aug. 31.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. at Mike Rylko Community Park, near the Spray 'N Play entrance, located at 951 McHenry Road. The event is expected to end about 9:30 a.m.

The Stampede is a Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) certified race. The 10K race is also part of the CARA circuit. More information about CARA can be found on their website at cararuns.org.

Several streets will be closed to traffic during the race, including McHenry Road (Route 83) between Deerfield Parkway and Buffalo Grove Road, Arlington Heights Road, Checker Drive, Old Checker Road, Schaeffer Road, Farrington Drive, Shady Grove Lane, Silver Rock Lane and Springside Lane.
