Estefan musical to debut in June in Chicago

"On Your Feet," a new musical based on the lives and music of Grammy-winner Gloria Estefan and her music producer husband, Emilio Estefan - will make its world premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theatre on June 2, 2015, before heading to Broadway.

The musical, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell ("Kinky Boots," "Hairspray"), will run through July 5, 2015. Alexander Dinelaris ("Zanna Don't") wrote the book. Sergio Trujillo ("Jersey Boys") will choreograph.

"On Your Feet!" will chronicle the Estefans' rise in the music industry, their Cuban heritage and their personal journeys. It will feature new music as well as such Gloria Estefan hits as "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" and "Conga."

The musical will be part of the Broadway in Chicago subscription series that goes on sale Sept. 7. Current subscribers can renew now, and individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
