Three District 211 schools win EPA award

Palatine, Conant and Schaumburg High Schools have earned the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star Certification for their buildings.

Fremd High School also has qualified and is awaiting final approval from the EPA to be included.

Only four schools earned the award in Illinois and three are in Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211.

Earning Energy Star Certification is a major accomplishment, said Reece Thome, energy manager at District 211. The award signifies a facility that uses significantly less energy, saves money, and helps protect the environment by generating fewer greenhouse gas emissions when compared to other buildings.
