Boomers 6, Grizzlies 4

Riding a pair of home runs, the Schaumburg Boomers earned an important 6-4 road win over the Gateway Grizzlies on Friday night.

The Boomers (47-32) never trailed in the contest and remain a game behind Gateway in the West Division race.

Justin Vasquez nailed a two-run homer in the third to open the scoring and Mark Nelson drilled a two-run shot in the ninth to cap the scoring for Schaumburg. Gateway hit three solo homers in the contest and twice pulled within a run but could not get closer.
