1 dead, 3 wounded in suburban Sauk Village shooting
Officials of the Sauk Village Police Department say they have good leads in the shooting death of a local teenager and the wounding of three others.
Sauk Village Police Chief Timothy Holevis says the Thursday shootings were preceded by an altercation between two groups of young adults.
Holevis says a male adult pulled a handgun and fired several shots, hitting 16-year-old Nathaniel Burns Jr. of Sauk Village and three others. The Lake County coroner's office said Burns was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Authorities say two of the victims were treated for graze wounds and released from the hospital. A third victim was admitted to the hospital in good condition.
The shooting occurred in a strip mall, and Holevis says investigators are reviewing surveillance video from businesses near scene.
