Elk Grove man competes in trucking contest

An Elk Grove Village truck driver is competing in this week's National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh.

Nenko Topalov, owner of Nando Express Inc., is competing in the 5-Axle Sleeper class after qualifying for the nationals in the Illinois state truck driving competition, officials said.

Topalov has been a professional driver for 15 years and has 2.8 million accident-free miles on the road. His company, which provides transportation services for FedEx Ground around the Chicago area, employs seven drivers and has four trucks.

The American Trucking Associations hosts the three-part national competition that test each driver's knowledge and skills.
