Hanover Township offering perks for blood drive

Hanover Township will treat donors to a chair massage, Subway gift card and free T-shirt at an upcoming blood drive.

Heartland Blood Centers and the township are partnering on the drive from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Hanover Township's Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59, Bartlett.

"Summer is the time of greatest need for blood donations," Trustee Steve Caramelli said. "A few minutes out of your day to donate a pint of blood could help to save a life."

Walk-ins are welcome, but donors are encouraged to register ahead of the drive by calling the Hanover Township Office of Community Health at (630) 483-5665 or visiting Heartlandbc.org. Participants also must bring along a photo ID.

Heartland serves nearly 50 hospitals in a dozen counties.
